Standard Air-Blade™ Air Knife
Product Overview
-
The Air Knife - Air-Blade Blow-Off System from Nex Flow™ is easy to install and maintain. It can reduce both compressed air consumption and noise levels.
It produces a “laminar” flow of air using the Coanda effect. This draws a large volume of air from the surrounding area along with the small amount of compressed air from the Air-Blade. It also produces an output flow up to 30 times.
The air knife system payback on compressed air savings can be seen in some applications.
Air Knife - Air-Blade Features:
-
The low cost air knives are rugged with a multiple port design for mounting flexibility. It is coated for longer life compared to competitive products that advertise a full flowing air knife type of system.
- It is made of a coated aluminum body and hard-coated cap. Stainless steel models are available for high temperature and corrosive applications.
- The multiple air inlet ports at the back ends in a compact design with additional mounting holes.
- Airflow amplification is approximately 30:1 compared to 3:1 for drilled pipe or open jets and tubes.
- There is instant on-off mechanism with no moving parts. There are no electricity or explosion hazards.
Air Knife & Air-Blade Benefits:
- It is built and designed for significantly longer life in difficult environments compared to competing products.
- There are flexible mounting options and can easily fit in small spaces.
- Energy reduction in compressed air can use up to 90% and noise reductions of 10 DBA.
- It is maintenance-free. The output is easily controlled and safe to use.
Air Knife Accessories :
In addition to water removal filters and oil removal filters, air knife accessories include extra shims and coupling kit for X-stream air blade air knives to join separate pieces.
You can remove oil from a Compressed Air System utilizing the oil removal filter with automatic drain. This is the option if there is oil in the compressed air lines.
Calculating Compressed Air Consumption for the Standard Air Blade is available in the chart provided. Likewise, calculate Air Savings as shown in the example.
Remove Water, Dirt, and Rust From a compressed air system using water removal and oil removal filters with automatic drains.
The Pressure Regulator adjusts the pressure in air knives to optimize flow and performance needed for production.

How They Work
Standard Air-Blade™ Air Knife- Compressed air enters the air knife at the rear (or end) ports at (A). Air is entrained at point (B) by the compressed air stream that leaves the air knife from a small gap. The entrained air follows the coanda profile and along the front face (C) that directs the airflow in a perfect straight line at 90 degrees to create a uniform sheet of air along the entire length of the Air Blade TM air knife at it leaves the air knife at point (D). The amplified air stream maximized velocity and force is maximized as a well-defined sheet of laminar flow with minimal wind shear for reduced energy use in blow off and cooling.

Example Of An Air Saving Calculation
1. From the chart showing air flow through a hole, assume we have a pipe 30 inches long with 1/16" holes spaced ½” apart with a total number of 59 holes. The air pressure in the system is 60 PSIG.
2. From the chart each 1/16" hole consumes 4.23 SCFM at 60 PSIG. Total air consumed is 59 X 4.23 = 249.57 SCFM.
3. From the Compressed Air Consumption Chart a 30" Air-Blade™ Air Knife consumes 2.7 SCFM per inch or 30 X 2.7 = 81 SCFM at 60 PSIG.
4. Assuming a compressed air cost of 30 cents/1000 standard cubic feet and an 8 hour day operation for 200 days per year, the Drilled Pipe Will Cost:
249.57 cu. ft./min. X 60 min./hr. X $.30/1000 cu. ft. X 200 days X 8 hrs/day equaling $7,187.62 a year
5. The Air-Blade™ Air Knife Will Cost: 81 cu. ft./min. X 60 min./hr. X $ .30/1000 cu. ft. X 200 days X 8 hrs/day equaling $2,332.80 a year.
6. The Savings Per Year using the Air-Blade™ Air Knife will be:
$7,187.62 - $2,332.80 = $4,854.82 per year!
